All persons who have to fulfil the Integration Agreement and have received vouchers from the Austrian or Viennese government have to register for so called “German integration courses” (Integrationskurse). Vouchers can only be used in combination with this type of course.
These language courses, which help the learners prepare for the integration exam, are offered at our German language school in Vienna up to level A2/2.
There are two types of vouchers:
1) Yellow voucher of the Austrian ministry of the interior/ ”Integrationsfonds”
These vouches are handed out by the authority (Magistrat, Bezirkshauptmannschaft) which awards the settlement permit (Niederlassungsbewilligung). Persons who own these vouchers are entitled to a 50% refund of the entire course fee. The vouchers are valid for two years and are directly linked to the integration exam, for which German at level A2/2 is required. This means that initially the learners have to pay for the integration courses themselves, however, once they have passed the integration exam, the Austrian “Integrationsfonds” (Integration Fund) will reimburse them for half of the entire course fee. After the integration exam Deutschinstitut Wien sends the exam result together with the voucher to the Integration Fund, which then transfers the money directly to the exam candidate’s bank account.
2) “Wiener Sprachgutscheine” (Vienna Language Vouchers) - issued by Magistratsabteilung 17 (MA17)
These vouchers are issued to persons who have first applied for a settlement permit after Jan 1st 2007 and to dependants (spouses and underage, unmarried children) and family members (relatives and partners) of Austrian and EU citizens. The Vienna Language Vouchers have a value of 3 x 100,- Euros and are valid for 30 months after date of issue. The vouchers can be used in addition to the yellow voucher of the Integration Fund and are accepted for all integration courses at our language school. One Language Voucher is valid for 80 lessons of 45 minutes each. However, the courses at Deutschinstitut Wien consist of only 60 lessons each month, which is why the school can only accept these vouchers if a course is booked for a minimum of two months.
